Frenetic. Whenever a word strikes me as particularly useful!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">May this enhance your discourse, written, verbal, read&#8230;etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Adjectives<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>concomitant<\/strong>\u2014naturally accompanying or associated (concomitant implications)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>incisive<\/strong>\u2014intelligently analytical and clear-thinking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>vacuous<\/strong>\u2014<strong>vacuous truth<\/strong> is a statement that asserts that all members of the empty set have a certain property. For example, the statement &#8220;all cell phones in the room are turned off&#8221; will be true whenever there are no cell phones in the room<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>polysemous<\/strong>\u2014having multiple meanings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>univocal<\/strong>\u2014a term, phrase, or word that has only one possible meaning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>involuted<\/strong>\u2014<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>florid<\/strong>\u2014<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>countervailing<\/strong>\u2014offsetting\u00a0an effect by\u00a0countering\u00a0it with something of equal force<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>inchoate<\/strong>\u2014just begun and so not fully formed or developed;\u00a0rudimentary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>stochastic<\/strong>\u2014can be modeled according to random probability distribution<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Verbs<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>interrogate\u2014<\/strong>pose a series of questions to (interrogates the issue)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>criticize\u2014<\/strong>form and express a sophisticated judgment of (Marx criticizes the Young Hegelians)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>scrutinize\u2014<\/strong>examine or inspect closely and thoroughly (Marx scrutinizes Hegel)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>proliferate\u2014<\/strong>increase\/advance, spread rapidly and often excessively<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>supervene\u2014<\/strong>(of a fact or property) be entailed by or consequent on the existence or establishment of another. This is a fairly uncontroversial claim, but one I&amp;#8217;ll footnote nonetheless because there are, conceivably, at least some dissenters'><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span>. They\u2019re tools we depend upon in order to do what we do. Throughout my <del>still very early<\/del> academic career, some have tended to appear more frequently than others. Here&#8217;s one of my efforts to make the unfamiliar a little less daunting. Hopefully it may be of some use to whoever stumbles upon this, however they got here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">For each one, I&#8217;m mostly just using the results of a quick Google search. (That&#8217;s usually all it takes to get a sufficient working definition, for my purposes anyway!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">But a disclaimer with this in mind, O Imaginary Audience, I would be surprised if there were zero controversy in accepting these understandings as universally applicable in all contexts.<span id='easy-footnote-3-67' class='easy-footnote-margin-adjust'><\/span><span class='easy-footnote'><a href='https:\/\/rayazkhan.com\/index.php\/2021\/03\/19\/crowd-favorites-of-the-intellectual-or-just-philosopher\/#easy-footnote-bottom-3-67' title='In my overly ideal(ized) world, we&amp;#8217;d all leverage our subjective experiences to curate lists of our own in order to better understand each other. This list includes ones that &lt;del&gt;I hope&lt;\/del&gt; I think are helpful in writing, useful in discourse, and ones that are often used in passing in such a way that complicates working out their context on the spot.'><sup>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">So, just for my own fun: here&#8217;s a duplicate of this list<span id='easy-footnote-4-67' class='easy-footnote-margin-adjust'><\/span><span class='easy-footnote'><a href='https:\/\/rayazkhan.com\/index.php\/2021\/03\/19\/crowd-favorites-of-the-intellectual-or-just-philosopher\/#easy-footnote-bottom-4-67' title='I&amp;#8217;m considering formatting this whole thing into one massive list using footnotes, eventually, but I also wanna color-code, so we&amp;#8217;ll see! Maybe another post?'><sup>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span> adding some of my own thoughts, wherever applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:13px\">Red\u2014(I suspect) this may be a word that&#8217;s more commonly used within philosophy\/with a specific (set of) meaning(s), which means each use entails its own baggage and controversy.<span id='easy-footnote-5-67' class='easy-footnote-margin-adjust'><\/span><span class='easy-footnote'><a href='https:\/\/rayazkhan.com\/index.php\/2021\/03\/19\/crowd-favorites-of-the-intellectual-or-just-philosopher\/#easy-footnote-bottom-5-67' title='Just in case: Philosophers squabble over intended meanings to the general confusion of their contemporaries, their readers, themselves, and generally every involved party: real or imagined, actual or possible.'><sup>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span><br>The most futile drinking game<span id='easy-footnote-6-67' class='easy-footnote-margin-adjust'><\/span><span class='easy-footnote'><a href='https:\/\/rayazkhan.com\/index.php\/2021\/03\/19\/crowd-favorites-of-the-intellectual-or-just-philosopher\/#easy-footnote-bottom-6-67' title='or is it more of a thought experiment than a drinking game? Probably not a whole lot of overlap between &amp;#8220;places you&amp;#8217;d hear these&amp;#8221; and &amp;#8220;places you&amp;#8217;re gettin turnt&amp;#8221;'><sup>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span>, inspired by the red ones: Take a shot every time you hear someone use these red ones <em>un<\/em>pretentiously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Adjectives<br>1) concomitant\u2014one of my favorite words in spanish is &#8220;conllevar&#8221; which, I think, does the same thing<br>2) incisive\u2014a virtue. A trait I aspire to wield (and, much like being concise, will probably never achieve)<br>3) vacuous<br>4) polysemous\u2014damn near everything is polysemous in a post-modern world<br>5) univocal<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Verbs<br>1) interrogate\u2014usually you only hear this one in an interpersonal &#8220;suspect\/legal authority&#8221; sense, but I think it&#8217;s particularly effective when applied to ideas.<br>2 &amp; 3) criticize\/scrutinize\u2014can&#8217;t quite put my finger on why, but instead of &#8220;critiques&#8221;, I seem to prefer &#8220;criticizes&#8221; <br>4) proliferate\u2014anyone else out there who can&#8217;t help but think Cold War Era &#8220;nuclear arms race&#8221; whenever you hear this one?<br>5) supervene\u2014I still don&#8217;t have a solid handle on this one(and jury&#8217;s out on whether I ever will)<br>6) stipulate\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Nouns<br>1) indigence<br>2) architecture\u2014I think it&#8217;s an especially good look to use this one in the &#8220;conceptual framework&#8221; sense<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">3)<strong>counterfactuals\u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>4) mechanisms\u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>5) lacuna\u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>6) guise\u2014&nbsp;<\/strong>monosyllabic elegance, very functional synonym for &#8220;facade&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Adverbs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">1) namely\u2014once I became aware of this one, I started seeing it e v e r y w h e r e.
